Sometimes, you get the urge of wanting to become a better version of yourself and wish you had a magic wand to improve things. Nonetheless, such feelings fade almost instantly as you lack the initiative to actually do something about them.
It’s time to take action and become your best person! All it takes to reach new heights is perseverance and to follow the little steps below.
- Do a random act of kindness to a stranger every day
Whenever you’re feeling down, sometimes, you find yourself in a funky area of your mind. So, try your best to uplift strangers as you’ll be simultaneously uplifting yourself. Be it smiling to someone’s face, complementing their dress or simply holding the door for them, the reaction you get in return definitely busts your bad mood and makes you feel positive.
People’s misfortunes are a chance to help and to be there for them in a time of need. Think of how nice it would be to encounter someone willing to do that for you and the magical effect it would have on your mood.
- Do your dishes before you go to bed
Nothing tops the feeling of waking up to a clean kitchen.
Of course, some days you may be exhausted and go straight to bed, so remember to forgive yourself if you don’t do them before and strive to make it an unbeatable daily routine.
- Allocate time to self and home care
Self and home care go hand to hand. In fact, the time you spend on them contributes to boosting your self-confidence and well-being. Rather than starting off with an hour of exercising or cleaning, it’s best if you set a timer and try doing 5 to 10 minutes at a time. When it goes off, you’re done, but if you feel like you can do a little more, then go for it.
You could be one of the laziest persons around, but at least make sure every time you get into a room to leave it a little tidier than when you went it. Start small and work your way up!
- Set up a budget and stick to it
Personal finance is such an over talked topic. We often assume that we have a thorough understanding of it, but in reality, all we really know is how to manipulate ready-to-use excel spreadsheets, which is important yet only a small aspect of the whole process. In fact, budgeting is also a mean of financial comfort and not getting overly stressed about money.
So, what are you waiting for? Get a pencil and a paper. It will change your life dramatically for the better!
- Make a ta-da! list
It’s true that most people think of To-Do list as this rigid thing that must be set in stone, and that kind of puts them off. However, it’s dynamic and you aren’t going to get it right the first time.
To make things easier is to make a To-Do list on one side, and a Ta-Da! List on the other. This way, even if you feel a bit overwhelmed or anxious with the tasks you need to do, you can motivate yourself with the list of tasks you already did.
- Call your loved ones
Don’t put pressure on yourself if you don’t have much in common, just pick up the phone and call. Then, if you realize you didn’t quite make the connection, it’s fine to finish the call and try again in a different time. Just make sure to let them know you care and think of them. Expressing love is often a good thing!
- Forgive your past self
Experts recommend numerous types of treatments and ways to stop intrusive thoughts. Nonetheless, everything depends on your predisposition to overcome them and learn to accept your thoughts.
So, whenever you get those thoughts or feel like things aren’t going your way, try to think positively and invest in things that give you wholesome memories.
